  • The environment is hostile. The deep ocean is cold, dark, and full of pressure. These conditions can make it difficult for rescue crews to operate effectively. 
  • The location of the submarine is often unknown. If the submarine is not in communication with the surface, it can be difficult to track its location. This makes it difficult for rescue crews to know where to look.
  • The submarine may be damaged. If the submarine is damaged, it may be difficult to access. This could make it difficult for rescue crews to reach the people inside.
  • The time factor is critical. The oxygen supply in a submarine is limited. This means that rescue crews have a limited amount of time to find and rescue the people inside.
  • Human divers with specialized equipment can safely reach depths of just a few hundred feet below the surface. However, they must spend long amounts of time decompressing on the way back up to avoid decompression sickness, also known as the bends.
  • The search and rescue effort for the five people aboard the missing submersible Titan is facing numerous challenges. The deep ocean is a hostile environment, and the factors involved in a successful rescue are even more numerous and difficult than those in a typical search and rescue operation at sea.
  •  The location of the submarine is unknown, and the weather conditions in the area are unpredictable. The water is also very cold, which can make it difficult for rescue crews to operate effectively. Additionally, the submarine may be damaged, which could make it difficult to access

Despite these challenges, undersea rescues have been successful in the past. In 2017, a Russian mini-submarine rescued the crew of a sunken research vessel in the Sea of Japan. In 2000, a US Navy team rescued the crew of the sunken submarine Kursk in the Barents Sea.

The search for the missing Titanic tourist submersible is ongoing. Rescue crews are working to narrow down the search area and find the submarine. They are also working to determine if the submarine is damaged and if the people inside are still alive.
