Three Years after retiring, Caroline Wozniacki is making a comeback to tennis and has been granted a wild card for the US Open.

Caroline Wozniacki, a former world No. 1 tennis player and the 2018 Australian Open champion, is returning to competition three years after retiring to start a family. The U.S. Tennis Association will grant her a wild-card invitation to participate in the U.S. Open, which begins on August 28th in New York. She will also receive a wild-card entry for a tournament in Montreal in early August and plans to play in the Australian Open next January. Wozniacki hopes to represent Denmark at the 2024 Paris Olympics and wants to show women that it is possible to combine motherhood with a career.

Wozniacki, who turns 33 in July, has not played an official match since losing in the third round of the Australian Open in January 2020. She and her husband, former NBA player David Lee, have two young children. Wozniacki was No. 1 in the WTA rankings for a total of 71 weeks and earned 30 titles, including the first Grand Slam singles title for a player from Denmark when she won in Australia about 5 and a half years ago.

Wozniacki wrote on Twitter that she still has goals she wants to accomplish and wants to show her children that they can pursue their dreams no matter their age or role. She is excited to return to the game she loves and believes she can win the U.S. Open and the Australian Open.
